ROLE SUMMARY

The Software Developer is responsible for leading the research, design and development of the software used to manufacture new sports technology products. Reviewing current software performance and investigating opportunities for continuous improvement is also expected.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Develop, test and debug new and existing software used in the manufacturing of fitness products, and perform code reviews with peers
• Achieve an in depth technical knowledge of the 4iiii manufacturing process in order to monitor and assess the performance of manufacturing software and recommend areas of improvement
• Support the engineering team with developing new and innovative products
• Develop test plans and processes designed to identify and diagnose potential quality issues to improve manufacturing processes via software improvements
• Perform technical analysis and experiments to troubleshoot potential issues which have been identified
• Properly document test protocols and results. Includes providing detailed reports for various teams
• Follow best practices and protocols for software development and deployment
• Understand constraints in engineering and manufacturing and determine solutions to alleviate these constraints
• Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• +5 years of engineering experience, preferably related to consumer electronics and software engineering
• Postsecondary degree in a field related to computer science or engineering, preferably electrical, electronics or software engineering
• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript is strongly preferred
• Competency in Python is desirable
• Competency in C or C++ with experience in firmware development, is desirable
• Experience in software related to manufacturing, specifically electronics manufacturing, is desirable
• Working knowledge of Bluetooth and other wireless technologies
• Demonstrable problem solving skills, from problem identification to resolution
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including technical, professional and senior management
• Ability to analyze information, and recommend courses of action to be taken
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
• Resourcefulness while working in a team environment
• An interest in sports, technology and leads a healthy active lifestyle is an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ADDITIONAL DETAILS

• 4iiii is based in Cochrane, Alberta; this position is expected to work from the office, with the option to work from home occasionally

• We work in a global market with partners in Europe and Asia as well as the Americas. Office hours need to flex to accommodate meetings in these time zones and meeting project deadlines may demand overtime as required
