Job Title: Executive Director (Part Time)

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba (Remote with occasional in-person meetings)

Hours: Variable, approximately 10 hours per week

The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity for a leader who excels in an operational role and is looking for a flexible, high-impact position at the heart of Manitoba's AI and technology ecosystem.

Your Impact and Responsibilities (in collaboration with the Board)

As the Part-Time Executive Director, you will have ownership of the core operations that support our mission and drive member value. Your responsibilities may include:

Communications & Outreach:

  • Lead and execute the association's communications strategy, overseeing the creation and distribution of our monthly newsletter.
  • Ensure the MAAIP website is a dynamic and up-to-date resource for our members.
  • Manage the association's social media presence to amplify our message and engage the community.

Member & Partner Relations:

  • Serve as the professional face of the association, acting as the primary point of contact for members and partners.
  • Enhance the member experience by managing onboarding, renewals, and engagement initiatives.
  • Support the Board in nurturing relationships with key industry, government, and academic partners.
  • Identify and research potential corporate sponsors and relevant grant opportunities

Event Strategy & Coordination:

  • Source high interest topics and speakers based on industry trends and member feedback.
  • Guide the association's event programming by serving as the primary contact with our event planning contractor.
  • Promote relevant third-party community events to our network.

Operational Leadership:

  • Work independently to implement the strategic priorities set by the Board of Directors.
  • Manage board meeting logistics, prepare necessary materials, and track action items to ensure progress.
  • Effectively liaise with external contractors to guarantee seamless project delivery.

What Success Looks Like in the First 6-12 Months

  • You have refined and scaled our communications, measurably increasing member engagement rates.
  • The operational tempo of the association is consistent and professional, with streamlined processes for member and partner relations.
  • You have successfully executed the board's key strategic initiatives for the year.
  • You have built a strong, collaborative relationship with the Board, becoming their trusted operational leader.

Who You Are : Qualifications & Attributes

  • Proven experience in an operational, administrative, or program management role, with a track record of successfully executing projects.
  • Leadership abilities with the confidence to represent an organization professionally to external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and drive progress within a part-time schedule.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience managing newsletters, websites, or professional social media accounts is essential.
  • A genuine interest and understanding of the artificial intelligence landscape, key concepts and current trends is a significant asset that will allow for more credible and effective engagement with our members and partners.
  • Experience working with a board of directors or in a non-profit/association environment is a significant asset.
  • A proactive and service-oriented mindset, with a strong ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
