The Director, Category Management, is responsible for developing and implementing innovative and profitable category strategies for the Uniprix and Proxim banners. This key role aims to maximize sales, revenue, and retail margins. Optimize product assortment, pricing, promotions, and in-store placement to improve the customer experience and maximize pharmacy sales performance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and communicate comprehensive category strategies aligned with business objectives and customer needs for the Uniprix and Proxim banners.

  • Analyze sales data, market trends, competitive analyses, and consumer purchasing behaviors to identify growth opportunities.

  • Develop and equip category managers to manage the product assortment for each category, including introducing new products, streamlining existing ranges, and managing product life cycles.

  • Negotiate agreements with suppliers to obtain the best commercial terms, prices, promotions, and loyalty program support.

  • Maintain good business relationships with partners.

  • Establish and manage product prices to optimize margins and competitiveness.

  • Work closely with marketing teams to develop and implement promotional plans.

  • Work in partnership with operations and merchandising teams to ensure optimal in-store execution, including planograms, flyer execution, and long-term low price programs.

  • Monitor and evaluate category performance, identify variances, and propose corrective actions.

  • Prepare and present regular performance reports to management.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field. A master's degree (MBA) is an asset.

  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in category management, product development, or marketing, ideally in the retail, pharmaceutical, or consumer goods industry.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of leadership/management experience

  • Proven experience in category management for multiple banners or a franchise network.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Nielsen, PowerBI) and excellent ability to interpret data to make strategic decisions.

  • Exceptional negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English (bilingualism required).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and constantly changing environment.

  • Leadership, proactivity, and results-oriented.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
