AFC Toronto is looking for a talented designer to bring our story to life through powerful, modern, and expressive visuals.
Position Summary
AFC Toronto is looking for an artistic, visually fluent, and culturally connected Graphic Designer to join our digital media team. As an artistic, digital-first creative role, this position requires a strong visual voice, aesthetic instinct, and the ability to craft visuals that feel as powerful as they look.
You will help shape AFC Toronto's visual identity across all digital and social-facing platforms, producing design work that's modern, expressive, and emotionally resonant - from player graphics and matchday storytelling to ticket sales and merchandise campaigns and major creative productions.
Working closely with the digital and marketing teams, you will bring an art director's mindset and an eye for visual storytelling. This is the ideal role for a designer who blends art and sport - someone who can translate emotion, culture, and movement into clean, beautiful, and intentional visuals made to live and thrive online.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Brand & Visual Identity
- Help maintain and evolve AFC Toronto's visual identity, ensuring consistency and a distinct artistic tone across all applications.
- Create templates, design systems, and brand guidelines that can be scaled across departments and platforms.
2. Digital & Social Media Assets
- Focus on digital-led storytelling and social-native design that elevates AFC Toronto's online presence.
- Design graphics for social media content, matchday coverage, player announcements, and club news.
- Support the social and content teams with visually engaging, trend-aware designs for stories, reels, and campaigns.
- Website and e-newsletter design and execution.
3. Matchday & Event Creative
- Produce print and digital materials for home games and club events, including posters, signage, credentials, videoboard, and fan giveaways.
- Collaborate with photographers and videographers to integrate imagery into polished visual assets.
4. Merchandise & Campaign Design
- Support creation of mockups and concepts for merchandise, kits, and branded giveaways.
- Assist in rollout of marketing campaigns, including digital ads, banners, and email creative.
5. Production & File Management
- Prepare final files for print and digital publishing.
- Maintain organized design files, asset libraries, and style guides.
Position Requirements, Attributes & Characteristics
- 2 years of graphic design experience (in-house, agency, or freelance - sports or lifestyle brands a strong plus).
- Portfolio that demonstrates artistic design sensibility, creative storytelling, and aesthetic excellence across digital and print.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); motion design skills (After Effects) a plus.
- Understanding of current sports design trends and the ability to bring that energy into AFC Toronto's visual identity.
- Photography proficiency or experience in editing, retouching, and composition highly encouraged.
- A sharp eye for layout, typography, color, and composition.
- Ability to work within brand guidelines while bringing fresh, design-forward ideas.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Connection to sports, Toronto culture, and visual storytelling.
