About the Role
ASL19 is recruiting a Communications and Operations Coordinator. As part of the Development and Operations team, You will support the management of relationships with various partners and collaborators, and assist in the production of a healthy, thriving work environment for our team.

ASL19, Persian for Article 19, is a technology organization and research lab focusing on the most pressing information challenges around the world. Established in 2012, to support the free flow of information in Iran by circumventing internet censorship. Today, we work on countering threats facing civil society in Iran by designing and developing solutions with and for diverse communities.

Responsibilities
Development and Communications (Approx 80%)
- Implementing ASL19's English communication plan and strategy on the organizational and project levels
- Assist in production of materials in English, including web, social media, print and personalized communications
- Support ASL19's project teams in English communications, research and analysis as needed
- Work with the Development and Communications Manager in writing and coordinating proposals and reports, including copyediting project materials and reports produced by the teams and partners
- Support ASL19's internal communications (e.g. policies, handbooks, business plans, and internal updates), including necessary brainstorming, coordination, writing, editing and content updating
- Assist in external correspondence, including fundraising and managing relationships with funders, clients, and potential partners
- Support organizational outreach and communications for our wider community and events, including in creating newsletters, presentations, and promotional materials
- Develop and maintain all systems and workflows within your portfolio, proactively initiating improvements as required
- Any other tasks assigned to by your Supervisor, including other administrative tasks related to the Development and Communications portfolio
Operations (Approx 20%)
- Day-to-day office management and administration to ensure a positive employee experience and thriving workplace (e.g. procurement of services, coordinating with vendors, booking travel, food and supplies shopping, etc.)
- Organize and facilitate staff programming such as office events, online sessions, etc.
- Supporting the Operations team in HR administrative tasks such as tracking equipment, posting job postings, ensuring proper documentation, updating contract templates, etc.
- Other administrative tasks as related to office administration
Desired Skills and Experience
- 1 year minimum experience in office administration or related work experience
- 1 year minimum professional experience in external communications, organizational development, and/or fundraising
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English
- Highly organized, ability to prioritize and multitask
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to have a sense of humor while troubleshooting problems
- Ability to adapt and participate in a diverse, multicultural team
- Ability to handle a diversity of opinions with respect and empathy
- Project management experience
- Comfortable with technology and responsive to emails
- Ability to handle and protect confidential information with the highest level of discretion
Other nice-to-haves
- Proficiency in both English and Persian is highly desirable
- Experience with volunteering for and/or organizing community events
- Experience in writing for media
