Job Summary and Qualifications

Areas of specialty:

As the 1st point of contact to the Agency, The Receptionist will assist in providing professional Receptionist coverage and duties to the Winnipeg Office. In addition to assisting with reception coverage and duties, the selected candidate will assist the Office Manager with specific projects in the office. The Receptionist will also be responsible for assisting with sanitizing the office areas and family rooms.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Diploma
  • Reception experience is considered an asset (ie. multiline switchboard, postage machine, fax etc.) although not required as training will be provided.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs, climb ladders, general light physical labour may be required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, written, and organizational skills; Problem solving and decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team; work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of the culture, community, and community resources
  • The ability to speak and/or understand the Ojibway language is considered an asset

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Greet and receive public. Offer assistance and direct people to the proper department and/ or staff member
  • Take messages received from the answering service and direct to the appropriate staff members
  • Ensures the lobby, receptionist area and photocopier areas are organized and clean
  • Answers telephone in a courteous manner and screen all incoming calls to ensure calls are directed to the proper department and or/staff member
  • Track logbooks for Agency vehicles in the reception area
  • Responsible for receiving all faxes, taking copy of all faxes, and recording it in the daily log, and giving originals to appropriate person(s)
  • Record out-going faxes, daily
  • Ordering office supplies as needed and keeping track of existing supplies.
  • Creating and overseeing a system for storage areas within the agency
  • Creates and modifies various documents using Microsoft Office.
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Maintains computer and manual filing systems.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualified candidates will be required to undergo a criminal record check, child abuse registry check, and a prior contact check as a condition of employment. Sagkeeng Community members and Indigenous candidates will be given preference and are encouraged to self-identify as being of Indigenous descent.
